Urgent Fight for U.S. Democracy: Reasons and Powerful Ways

Your voice matters: Discover real ways to protect U.S. democracy and defend our future.

Undoubtedly, U.S. democracy has a lot of flaws, but is there really an alternative to protect at least what we have now, so that eventually we can continue to grow and improve?

I don’t think there is and I am sure many of you will agree. But even talking about this subject publicly feels dangerous right now. Are we risking our jobs? Our livelihood or even our lives? Maybe.

And then there are so many people out there who are very opinionated about the “right way” of doing the right thing. They might be wrong but their timing is. Now is the time for action, not for discussions about the right action.

Some are comfortable standing up publicly and showing the world where they stand to inspire more people to do something. Others are afraid (often rightfully) of the consequences that they might suffer when using their voice too loudly.

I have been there and experienced some of it. Doing what’s right and finding yourself on the supposed wrong side. Not funny, especially if you need to make a living. And who doesn’t?

Good thing is, there are ways that don’t have to be loud to be effective. And not all of them require us to be able to donate money to those pledging to fight for our U.S. democracy either. Even though that is one of the options and one I am definitely using myself.

If you are still wondering if this is at all necessary and if this will not just pass on its own, look back in history and there you will find your answer. None of the situations we are headed towards ever got resolved without a war. Not a great outlook in my books.

Here is what all of us can do:

Protect voting rights.

(These are just a few organizations that are dedicated to protecting voter rights – we can all support them).

Support politician’s at every level (and from every party) who are standing for democracy and pledge to protect it.

(This is not about parties. There are republicans who are active in protecting democracy, let’s support them as much as democrats).

Have conversations to find common ground.

(Judging those who voted for those in power right now, is not going to drive unity. Let’s talk with each other, not at each other).

Welcome those who regret instead of mocking them.

(Some are realizing now that what they voted for is not what they are actually getting. Let’s welcome them as supporters of change instead of mocking them for their past decisions).

This is not about being right. There is absolutely no prize for that. It’s about doing what’s right – for all of us.

And to do it now!

Protect U.S. democracy
