“I am sorry” – are you really?

    February 29, 2020 /

If you have read some of my posts already, you will know accountability and integrity are very important to me. In fact combined they are my top 1 value, followed by care as my top 2. I honestly believe accountability and ownership make a huge difference in our personal and most importantly in our professional life and success. However they should never be confused with being (overly) apologetic. Being sorry all the time, even when what happened is not our fault or not even a problem at all, has nothing to do with ownership. But a whole lot with how…

    Rockstar or Superstar?

    February 2, 2020 /

I did not spend too much time watching the Grammy’s (I did not watch them at all to be honest). I also did not watch the Golden Globes really so that isn’t it either. Why would I then want to talk about Stars and Rock- and Superstars of all things? Why ask “Rockstar or Superstar” at all? It’s because we are all likely one or the other, maybe both, and we might not even know! have you ever thought about whether you are a Rockstar or a Superstar? Let me explain. Those of you that are following me will know,…

    Beat the Funk

    January 19, 2020 /

Does that sound familiar? Have you ever been in a really bad mood that seemed to last forever? And by the time it was finally over, you did not even really remember the reason anymore? Or at least did not make an effort to find out? I have been there and done that. Probably more times than I care to count. In fact, I have experienced it so many times, that I actually gave this state of mind a name – the Funk. The reasons for getting into the funk are probably as diverse as the lives of my readers.…

    Dare to care

    December 25, 2019 /

Integrity is doing the right thing, even if no one is looking. Genuinely caring is usually the condition for integrity to happen in work life. Dare to care?

    Hey, Stranger!

    December 21, 2019 /

People that know me and work closely with me or are acquaintances or even friends will quickly agree that I am an extrovert. An outgoing person, definitely a little chatty at times. Being asked if I’d like to entertain a room, speak publicly etc. they would probably not hesitate and say “yes, definitely”. They would be somewhat right… And if you asked those same people about my ability to “network” / meet new people, they would probably tell you that I must be good at it as well. That I am good at making connections, that I can “win” people…

    Wroooong!

    December 15, 2019 /

For those of us having the pleasure of currently living in the US did you also just hear that with a certain annoying voice? ? Before I dive into today’s blog post I would like to acknowledge that I have been a little bit of a stranger here lately. Business travel is half the truth Unexpected accidents and sickness did not help either…well I am on the mend and how to better celebrate than with sharing some thoughts with all of you! Do you think of yourself as being open to feedback? I would say most of us, if asked,…

    Hey, have you met…yourself?

    October 17, 2019 /

“When I discover who I am, I’ll be free.” Ralph Ellison I promised to talk about feedback some more. And I will. Especially about what I learned about the value of feedback, how to deal with different types of feedback and what to do when you have a face that usually tells it all…spoiler alert: don’t aim for a career as professional poker player! Are you regularly looking at yourself in the mirror? Do you think if you described your appearance, it would match exactly what others would describe? Well probably not, as different people focus on different things. We…

    Kind of successful…

    October 13, 2019 /

What is success? What does being successful look like? How does it feel? I do not know yet how many people are going to read this, but I do know there should be at least as many different answers to these questions as this post will have readers. Or rather even more than that. This has to do with my definition of success – my kind of success – but I will talk about this in a later post, I promise! Today I would like to talk about how success should not feel – for me anyways. And I learned…
